The Arab states, in the strictest secrecy, provided the United States with intelligence about Iran‘s plans to attack Israel and opened their airspace to American fighters.
The Wall Street Journal reports this.
The countries also shared information received from their radars that detected Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles. It is known that in March 2022, the head of the US Central Command organized a secret meeting of military representatives of Israel and Arab countries in Sharm el-Sheikh to explore the possibilities of coordination between all forces in the region.
This was the first such large-scale meeting of Israeli and Arab officers with the support of the United States, at which a strategy to combat Iran was discussed. Immediately after the strike in Damascus, which led to the elimination of a senior member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the United States began actively influencing Arab countries, encouraging them to provide any available intelligence information about Tehran’s plans.
Also two days before the attack, officials in Iran notified their counterparts in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries of the upcoming attack, including its nature and timing. This information was also transmitted to the US, allowing Israel to receive advance warning.
Since the launch of drones and missiles from Iran, they have been detected by radars in the Persian Gulf countries connected to the US Central Command operations center located in Qatar. This information was immediately transmitted to fighters on standby in Middle Eastern airspace.
Earlier, Cursor wrote that Colonel Richard Kemp, the former commander of the British armed forces in Afghanistan, noted that Iran’s massive raid on Israel on the night of April 14 was far from symbolic. He stressed that the weapons Iran used were more destructive than typical missiles and posed a serious threat to Israel’s security.
