The Argentine Football Association has named the national team’s training center after superstar Lionel Messi. Messi’s name was given in recognition of the country winning the World Cup after many years.

The ‘Casa de Ezesa’ training center in Buenos Aires will henceforth be known as ‘Lionel Andre Messi’. Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, tweeted that this is a recognition of the legendary player in the world.

“Welcome to the home of the world champion,” he said at the renaming ceremony. National team members and former players also participated. The country’s 36-year wait for the World Cup title ended with Messi in Qatar.

‘I feel very happy. This recognition is very special’ – 35-year-old Messi responded after unveiling the plaque with his name.
