Israeli and UAE scientists join forces for new studies on Artificial Intelligence. The Weizmann Institute of Science (Wis) in Israel and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (Mbzuai) in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have announced a joint program for research on Artificial Intelligence. This is the new Wis-Mbzuai program, it will promote collaborative initiatives in research on fundamental and artificial intelligence will explore applications of the AI in domains such as healthcare and genomics, have made known the two research institutes.
The program will carry out both basic and applied research in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, computational biology, neural science and more, working for a general artificial intelligence (Time.news) view of human and higher capabilities. The collaboration will also include joint training programs, reciprocal visits, AI conferences, workshops, and student and staff exchange programs. The deal also points to recruit highly qualified researchers and staff to support and facilitate the central mission program.
The project aims to activate the potential of AI for accelerate the acquisition of knowledge in data-intensive activities as the biomedicine, the environmental research, the chemistry and astrophysics. The project is the result of the relaxation of relations between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi. Israel and the United Arab Emirates have in fact agreed to formally normalize their relations in mid-August 2020 and with the signing of a normalization agreement at the White House on 15 September.
