New Delhi: India’s star spinner R Ashwin is a player who makes the non-strike batsman stay at the crease until he leaves the ball. Ashwin also applies things like mankading without hesitation. One such interesting incident took place in the India-Australia 2nd Test.
The highlight of the scene was the clapping laughter of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who watched the spectacle from the crease while fielding. Its video is now viral on social media. In the footage, Kohli can’t stop laughing and claps his hands.
When Ashwin bowled, the Aussie player Marnus Labuschagne was at the crease. And Steve Smith on non-strike. After showing the action, Ashwin suddenly turned without bowling the ball. By then, Smith had left the crease. In the video, you can see Smith jumping into the crease as Ashwin turned away from the ball. Kohli claps and laughs at Smith’s nervous performances.
After such panic, Smith returned with a wicket for Ashwin. Smith was dismissed by Ashwin in both innings. In the first innings, Ashwin’s ball was caught by the keeper Srikar Bharath, but in the second innings, the player was unable to control the course of Ashwin’s ball and got stuck in front of the wicket. Smith’s attempt to sweep the ball from Ashwin fails.
