Sam Asghari, Britney Spears’ husband since June 2022, broke the silence on social media after filing for divorce on Wednesday.

“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” Asghari wrote in a story on his verified Instagram account on Thursday. “We will hold on to the love and respect we have for each other and I wish him the best always,” she added.
He then noted, “Asking for privacy seems ridiculous, so I’ll just ask that everyone, including the media, be nice and considerate.”
Asghari, an actor and personal trainer, filed an application to end the marriage with Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to a copy of the document obtained by CNN. The couple’s separation date is July 28, the petition says.
CNN has contacted representatives for Spears and Asghari for comment.
