AST Ancona Bolsters Developmental Services with New Hires & Dedicated Clinics

Providing crucial support for families and individuals, AST Ancona is significantly expanding its services for the developmental age, adding new therapists and educators and establishing specialized clinics across the region. The initiative aims to address growing needs in neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders and motor coordination challenges.

AST Ancona has recently onboarded four therapists specializing in neuro and psychomotor skills – one assigned to each health district: Fabriano, Jesi, Senigallia, and Ancona. Further bolstering the team, the organization anticipates hiring two professional educators by the end of the year to enhance rehabilitation programs for individuals with autism.

Expanding Access Through Dedicated Clinics

A key component of this expansion is the creation of dedicated clinics for neurodevelopmental disorders in each health district. These clinics will provide specialized care and support for a range of conditions. Specific locations include:

  • Ancona: Collemarino headquarters
  • Senigallia: Local UMEE service
  • Jesi: Branch office at the former Murri Hospital
  • Fabriano: Fabriano UMEE service

The professional educators will be strategically deployed, with a team serving the Jesi and Fabriano territories and another supporting Senigallia and Ancona from the Collemarino location.

Supporting Families Through National Program

These new educators will also participate in the national Caregiver Skill Training project. This program is designed to empower families with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively manage the daily challenges associated with autism spectrum disorders.

A senior official stated, “These additions will allow an enhancement of services to provide ever greater responses to the health needs of the population throughout the territory.” The expansion will also increase the capacity of the UMEE team and facilitate the implementation of more comprehensive rehabilitation treatments.

A Collaborative Network of Care

The therapists will operate under the direction of Dr. Roberto Rossi, manager of the rehabilitation health professions, and will be integrated within the UMEE Tutelary Care structure led by Dr. Francesca Mancia. This collaborative approach ensures a coordinated and holistic system of care for individuals and families navigating neurodevelopmental disorders in the region.

According to a health official, the new hires and clinic openings represent a significant investment in the well-being of the community, promising improved access to vital services and enhanced support for those in need.
