Two meteor showers, the December Monocerotides and the Sigma Hydrides, reach their peak on December 9, reports starwalk.space.
December Monocerotid meteors will be visible in the constellation Monoceros, their number expected to reach 2-3 per hour. During the peak of the Sigma Hydrid, there will be about 7 “shooting stars” passing through the constellation Hydra.
The Moon, illuminated by 15 percent, will not interfere with observation too much, astrophysicists report.
