The riots caused “at least 20 million euros in damage” for public transport in Île-de-France, according to a first estimate, published Monday, by Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), regional transport authority.

In this sum, it is necessary to count “the burnt buses, a burnt tram, two damaged trams and the street furniture that was broken”said IDFM, confirming information from the Parisian.

A total of 39 buses have been burned, everywhere in Île-de-France since the start of the riots, in particular 12 buses in the RATP depot in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis) and 14 buses in the ProCars company depot in Provins (Seine-et-Marne), detailed IDFM. It costs around €350,000 for a bus, according to the regional transport authority.

The renewal of the surface transport stoppage from 9:00 p.m. restored

IDFM recalled the renewal Monday evening of the stop from 9:00 p.m. on the circulation of buses and trams, in place for several days, stressing that “apart from the Aubervilliers depot, the damage has been greatly limited since the implementation of this order”.

Thus surface transport in Île-de-France, i.e. buses and trams, will return to the depot again on Monday no later than 9:00 p.m. “to preserve the safety of agents and travelers”even if the intensity of the riots has decreased significantly, IDFM had indicated at midday.

“This measure is renewed to preserve the safety of agents and travelers”explained the regional authority, which had invited “travellers to anticipate their journeys”.
