At the cinema from 9 May Solo cose belle, the poster film dedicated to respecting all diversity

Telling the fear of the “different”, the disabled, the immigrant, but also the resources that can arise from overcoming fears and prejudices: this is the challenge of Kristian Gianfreda, director of Solo cose belle, the film to be released in theaters of all of Italy next May 9th. Previewed as an extraordinary vision in front of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella last December 7, the film is now preparing for the baptism of the general public. “The film – explains the director – is a manifesto dedicated to the value of differences, the fight against marginalization and the beauty contained in overcoming the fear of diversity, especially in a historical and political moment like the one we are experiencing”. Crucial issues of our time, therefore, told through a choral and brilliant comedy that starts from the meeting-clash of two worlds that are only apparently distant. On the one hand, in fact, there is a village in the Romagna hinterland struggling with the next municipal elections; on the other there is a family home in which different characters move: a mother and a father, an asylum seeker who has just landed, an ex-prostitute, a very young ex-prisoner and two boys with serious disabilities. It all begins when Benedetta (Idamaria Recati), the sixteen-year-old daughter of the mayor (Giorgio Borghetti), comes into contact with this reality: a microcosm in which many people with a difficult past behind them live, but with a strong desire for redemption. Despite the social conventions of the world she comes from, she falls in love with young ex-convict Kevin (Luigi Navarra), causing havoc in the entire community. It will be the consequent chain reaction seasoned with suspicions, tears, laughter and evictions, to bring to light the beauty of hospitality and the importance of solidarity.
