On Thursday night, an Atlas Air Boeing 747, which took off from Florida to Puerto Rico on flight number 5Y095, had to make an emergency landing in Miami after the engine caught fire.

The plane took off from Miami International Airport at 10:22 p.m. ET, but shortly after, loud noises were heard from the left engine and the pilots began to descend. The landing in Miami was successfully completed at 10:30 p.m. and no passengers or crew were injured.

Watch the incident documentation:

A preliminary investigation of the incident revealed that a hole the size of a football was opened in the left engine, which was apparently caused by the impact of a foreign object. This is the second incident in which a Boeing 747 was forced to make an emergency landing in two weeks. On December 23, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 was forced to make an emergency landing after an emergency door dislodged mid-flight.

These incidents have raised many concerns about the safety of Boeing aircraft, and in the meantime, the “Boeing” company has announced that it is working with aviation authorities to investigate the incidents and ensure the safety of passengers.
