Atlético-GO returns to the field this Friday (9) to end its game with CRAC, valid for the 7th round of the Goiano Championship. The situation is curious and even rare because, in fact, the game started last night and was interrupted 26 minutes into the first half due to heavy rain that fell in Goiânia and damaged Antônio Accioly’s pitch. Therefore, the other 64 minutes of the match will be played, in addition to stoppage time.
Understand what happened
The match between Atlético-GO x CRAC started at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), as determined by the Goiano 2024 Championship table. However, the game already started under heavy criticism, especially from Dragão’s side. Coach Jair Ventura and the players complained about the limitations that were already being imposed by the heavy rain that has been falling regularly in Goiânia for a few days.
Fueled by two consecutive victories and experiencing a new phase of the year, Dragão is betting on maintaining the team that started yesterday’s game. Jair Ventura surprised and created an offensive midfield, with Zuleta, Cruz, Shaylon, Daniel and Vagner Love. Detail for the last two: for the first time in 2024, the center forwards will start playing together for Atlético-GO.
However, nothing can be seen. The struggle and effort to overcome the puddles left the game tense and unprofitable for everyone involved. The insufficient conditions caused referee Breno Souza to stop the game for an hour, to see if the rain would ease. But, without a positive response, he chose to suspend the match.
Change impacts 8th round games
Aware of the change, the Goiana Football Federation has already articulated changes to its table. Atlético-GO, which would play on Sunday (11) against Goiânia, will have its game rescheduled for Monday (12). The match is scheduled to take place at the Olympic stadium.
