Myanmar: Myanmar’s democratic leader and former prime minister Aung San Suu Kyi has been transferred from house arrest to solitary confinement in a prison compound in the capital, Naypyidaw, a junta spokesman said on Thursday. “Under criminal law, Suu Kyi has been in solitary confinement in prison,” So Min Tun said in a statement.

Since being ousted in a coup last year, Suu Kyi has been under house arrest in an undisclosed location in Naypyidaw. The housekeepers were accompanied by their pet dog. Suu Kyi, 77, was released only for trial under a military tribunal. Suu Kyi’s lawyers were barred from speaking to the media and journalists were barred from their trials. Army chief Min Aung Hlonging came to power in February last year, placing all leaders under house arrest for not allowing the Suu Kyi government to take the oath of office.

The court-martial ruled that Suu Kyi’s trial was enough inside the prison. They have been charged with various offenses punishable by up to 150 years in prison. The charges against the index include corruption, inciting people against the military and violating the Kovid protocol.

Suu Kyi was sentenced last year to four years in prison. Suu Kyi was convicted of working against the military regime and violating Kovid laws. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment under Section 505 (b) and two years imprisonment under the Disaster Management Act. Last April, Myanmar’s former state councilor Suu Kyi was sentenced to five years in prison for accepting $ 600,000 and 11.4 kilograms of gold as a bribe from former Yangon Chief Minister Fio Minh Tin.
