The Australian Grand Prix has secured its presence on the Formula 1 calendar for two more years, until 2037, the government of Victoria, the state where the Melbourne circuit is located, announced in a statement on Thursday.
In June, the event had already secured its presence until 2035.
As part of the agreement with F1, Melbourne will host the first race of the season at least four times between 2023 and 2037, the local government also explains.
That will not be the case for the 2023 season, which kicks off in Bahrain on March 5. Nor for the 2024 season, which would start in Saudi Arabia to prevent this Grand Prix from coinciding with Ramadan, according to the government of Victoria.
