Autism, 6 and 7 April 30-hour marathon in the pool in 9 cities – Health and Wellbeing

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 29 – In the water to raise awareness on the issues of disability and in particular autism and serious mental disorders. This is the meaning of the ‘Collective Embrace’ which will be held simultaneously in nine Italian cities on 6 and 7 April, the week in which World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated. A 30-hour pool marathon (from 7.30am on 6 April to 1.30pm the following day), promoted by the social cooperative TMA Group, in which everyone will be able to participate by swimming, floating, staying in the lane for a minimum of 15 minutes together with the kids doing the during the year Tma (Multisystemic therapy in water) – Caputo-Ippolito method. It is a therapy that uses water as an emotional, sensorial, motor activator, capable of pushing the person with communication disorders, relationships, autism spectrum disorder into a significant relationship.
It is an intervention that uses cognitive-behavioural strategies. It supports better management of emotions, autonomy and social interaction. All participants will communicate their name and the meters traveled in the pool to the lifeguard. The meters traveled in the pool will symbolically represent the attempt to get closer to the problems of families of children with autism spectrum disorder. A way to share with them a small part of their life journey and to “embrace” their causes aimed at recognizing the rights of their special children, often denied. A sign of closeness and sharing through sport that manages to break down barriers and make everyone equal. The proceeds collected from donations will be donated to the families of autistic children to offer them the possibility of carrying out multisystem therapy in water. (HANDLE).
