Avengers: Marvel Star Exits Doomsday Movie

Avengers: Doomsday Buzz Builds as Adam Warlock’s Future Remains Uncertain

Fans eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are experiencing a surge of excitement for Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in December 2026. The film, positioned as the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, is generating considerable buzz, though recent news casts doubt on the return of one key character.

The anticipation surrounding Avengers: Doomsday is palpable, fueled by both the approaching release year and the quartet of teaser trailers recently unveiled by Marvel Studios. The film promises an unprecedented scale, potentially surpassing previous Avengers installments with the promise of characters appearing from across the vast Marvel Multiverse. Marvel has confirmed the inclusion of stars from the franchise’s past, present, and future, hinting at a truly epic cinematic event.

However, not all fan-favorite heroes are guaranteed to appear. Recent comments from actor Will Poulter suggest his character, Adam Warlock, will not be joining the fray in Avengers: Doomsday.

In a recent interview with Variety, Poulter responded to questions about a potential return to the MCU with a seemingly definitive statement: “I genuinely know nothing.” While acknowledging the possibility of non-disclosure agreements, his response conveyed a sense of genuine uncertainty. This likely rules out an appearance in the upcoming film, especially considering initial production has wrapped and the December release date leaves little room for significant additions or reshoots featuring a character of Warlock’s stature.

Adam Warlock made his MCU debut in 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where he initially opposed – and later aided – the Guardians. His inclusion in the new team led by Rocket Raccoon implied a continued role in future installments. Despite a somewhat divisive reception among fans, with some believing the character wasn’t fully utilized given his prominence in the comics, Poulter’s performance was widely praised and left audiences anticipating further development.

The absence of a cosmic hero like Adam Warlock is particularly notable given the impending arrival of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, poised to wreak havoc across the multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes could certainly benefit from Warlock’s power. However, the possibility remains that Adam Warlock could feature in the heavily-rumored 2027 sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to be an even larger-scale multiversal battle.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
