“Avoidance of a Major Collision as Air India Nears Mid-Air Encounter with Nepal Airlines”

by time news

India’s Air India flight travelling from Delhi to Kathmandu, Nepal had passengers on board last Friday when it encountered a situation mid-air. The flight was flying at an altitude of 19,000 feet, and at the same time, a Nepal Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was also heading to Kathmandu on the same route but was flying at a lower altitude of 15,000 feet. Suddenly, the Air India plane descended from 19,000 feet, resulting in both aircraft flying at a very short distance from each other. This created a high risk of collision between the two flights. Air traffic control officials in Kathmandu became aware of this and instructed the Nepal Airlines flight to immediately lower its flying altitude. As a result, the Nepal Airlines flight was lowered from 15,000 feet to 7,000 feet, which prevented a potential plane crash. The Nepal Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority is currently investigating the incident while the Dhirbhuvan International flight control room has suspended three staff members for negligence.
