Domestic automaker “AvtoVAZ” proposes to increase the recycling fee in the budget segment of cars by almost 70%, said the company’s president Maxim Sokolov, transmits TASS.

“It’s different for different cars, but if we talk about the categories of cars that it produces”AvtoVAZ“, then up to 300,000 rubles from 178,000 rubles,” Sokolov said.

In early March, the government announced a deferral of the recycling fee for domestic automakers that have entered into special investment contracts (SPICs). The final deadline for paying salvage fees for the 4th quarter of 2022 and for the 1st-3rd quarters of 2023 will be postponed to December 15, 2023. Thus, the Cabinet of Ministers expects to help Russian automakers cope with the problem of a shortage of working capital and create a stock of spare parts for the smooth operation of factories.

Recycling fee is a one-time payment for each piece of equipment produced or imported into the country. The payment is positioned as an environmental fee, it is designed to compensate for the costs of future disposal of equipment.

The recycling fee has been in effect in Russia since September 2012. Initially, it applied only to importers, but since 2014, the payment has also been introduced for Russian automakers. At the same time, industrial subsidies are provided for domestic producers, which compensate for the payment.
