Judit Prihoda, a painter and graphic artist living and working in Dunakeszin since 2011, received the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit award in a ceremonial setting on March 14, 2024 in the Karmelita Monastery, quoting the laudation, “…her paintings that faithfully depict the beauty of the created world, in recognition of his caricatures reflecting a unique point of view and his thought-provoking artistic work”. The award was granted by the President of the Republic of Hungary and handed over to the Artist by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Zsolt Semjén.

His life is characterized by an artistic career that is constantly enriching and rising, and has been recognized with awards. In 1999, he received the Csergezán Diploma, the award for the best nature depiction artist of the year. The following year, he was awarded the Millennium Nimród Award. In 2006, he was awarded the Mátyás Gál scholarship for his diploma thesis in the graphic design department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. In 2014, the Hunting Cultural Association awarded him the “Golden Brush-Pen” art grand prize. He won the fine arts award of Gemenc Zrt. based on the votes of his fellow artists. Since 2003, he has been a permanent participant in the world-unique exhibition based on an international invitation to tender held in Enscheden, the Netherlands. In addition to domestic exhibitions, his works could be admired in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and the United States of America. In 2020, he participated in the World Hunting Exhibition.

From the beginning, his curiosity and strong attraction to animals was coupled with an internal compulsion to depict. This duality accompanied him throughout his school years, as well as the attention of parents and teachers who supported his early developing talent with intelligent love. His acquaintance and mentor-student relationship with Róbert Muray, the giant of Hungarian fine art depicting nature, was also decisive in his artistic development. His experiences on his travels in Africa strengthened and fulfilled his passion for big game. The authenticity and suggestive beauty of his depictions are covered by his unusual talent, diligence, knowledge and sensitivity.

The public can not only see his graphics and paintings in exhibitions, albums, and artistically designed calendars, but also, thanks to a special attraction, the creative process itself, as the work of art is born. When Judit Prihoda steps out of the intimate solitude of her studio and, accompanied by background music, draws and paints in public, she makes the audience sitting in the auditorium a spiritual partner.

In 2015, visitors to the exhibition in Dunakesz got to know the artist at the highly successful exhibition organized in the School Gallery of the Sándor Csoma Primary School in Kőrösi, who also took part in the Summer Exhibitions organized at the Magyarság Gallery several times.
