UDLAP’s Aztecas Pom Pom Secure Second Consecutive Victory at Battle Pom 2025

A UDLAP student organization has once again demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, winning the Battle Pom competition for the second year in a row. The victory underscores the high standards of excellence cultivated within the University of the Americas Puebla (UDLAP) community.

The Aztecas Pom Pom team was crowned champion of the Battle Pom 2025 contest on Thursday, showcasing their dedication, synchronicity, dance technique, and competitive spirit. The event brought together several university animation groups, including the Dolphins from the University of Acapulco, Lobos PDST, Halcones from the Interamerican University, and the White Tigresses from the UMAD.

The competition unfolded with each team presenting a choreographed routine before a panel of judges and an enthusiastic audience. The White Tigresses initiated the performances, followed by the high-energy routine of the Aztecas Pom Pom, a performance style frequently seen during UDLAP athletic events. Lobos PDST then took the stage, delivering a series of impressive movements. After a brief intermission, the Dolphins displayed their dancing abilities, and the Halcones concluded the contest with a passionate choreography.

Following careful deliberation, the judges awarded first place to the UDLAP team. “It feels incredible to win, it is a total embrace of the heart, the soul and our effort because all the work comes from us, the choreographies, the formations, even the musical mix,” shared the team captain, Natalia Ruiz Enríquez, a Clinical Psychology student at UDLAP, after the awards ceremony. “For me it is proof that we are doing very well and that we are on the right path.”

This win solidifies Aztecas Pom Pom’s reputation as a leading force in university-level animation in Puebla. The team’s success serves as an inspiration to future generations of UDLAP athletes and students, exemplifying the university’s commitment to balancing academic rigor with extracurricular pursuits. UDLAP students are known for successfully integrating multiple activities while maintaining academic excellence – a hallmark of the institution, considered among the best private universities in Mexico.

Looking ahead, the animation team will continue preparations for upcoming competitions, aiming to further elevate the reputation of UDLAP. The team also expressed a desire to welcome new members next semester, emphasizing a welcoming and inclusive environment. “For us, everyone is more than welcome, we love receiving new people because more than friends they become family,” added Ruiz.
