The management of the prestigious Clinique Laquintinie in Douala wanted to react firmly following information circulating on social networks mentioning the death of 2 newborns, supposedly due to a lack of available incubators. She criticizes manipulation tending to cast shame on the establishment.

It all started with anonymous publications circulating on social networks in recent days, warning of the death of 2 babies in the neonatal unit of the Laquintinie clinic in Douala. The reason given? A so-called lack of working incubators which would have led to this massacre.

Information immediately qualified as “ manipulatrices » by the hospital management in its reaction press release. The goal according to her: to harm the image and cast shame on the establishment through a “disinformation campaign”.

Because to counter the rumor, the Laquintinie clinic puts forward concrete figures demonstrating the seriousness of its neonatology service. “The hospital has 22 modern and efficient incubators” located in a unit offering “all amenities” with qualified personnel, she thus opposes the allegations about a shortage of equipment.

Before firmly emphasizing that in no case are recent deaths within the service due “to an unavailability of incubators”.

The clinic’s management nevertheless wishes to provide clarification on the origin of the deaths of certain infants who have hit the headlines. According to his explanations, it would be “extremely fragile babies”sometimes requiring “several hours of resuscitation”due “severe neonatal asphyxia”.

This is a completely different reason than that put forward by the misleading publications currently circulating to discredit. Hence the strong reaction of the hospital, ulcerated by this “disinformation campaign”.
