Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Effect: Streaming Numbers Surge Following Halftime Performance

Bad Bunny experienced a massive boost in music consumption following his highly anticipated Super Bowl LXI halftime show performance on February 8, solidifying his position as a global music icon.

The Puerto Rican superstar’s catalog garnered 98 million official on-demand streams in the United States on February 9, according to data from Luminate. This figure represents a significant 27% increase compared to the 77.6 million streams recorded on the day of the Super Bowl itself. The streaming counts exclude user-generated content, focusing solely on official streams.

While falling just short of his all-time streaming record, the February 9 total was remarkably close. On May 6, 2022, coinciding with the release of his chart-topping album A Summer Without You, Bad Bunny’s catalog achieved 98.2 million official on-demand streams.

Looking at his top five streaming days, the data reveals a consistent pattern of success. October 13, 2023, marked 91 million streams on the release day of Nobody Knows What’s Going to Happen Tomorrow, while February 8 saw 77.6 million streams and May 7, 2022, generated 69.1 million streams.

Interestingly, February 9 also delivered a personal best in song downloads, with 16,000 units sold – surpassing the previous high of 12,000 on October 12, 2018.

Combining the streaming activity from February 8 and 9, Bad Bunny amassed a total of 175.7 million streams, a 67% jump from the previous two days (105 million). Over the broader seven-day period from February 3-9, the artist accumulated an impressive 401.8 million streams, a 105% increase compared to the January 27-February 2 timeframe (195.4 million). This surge followed a sustained eight-day period of rising streaming activity, which began on February 2 with 35.8 million streams – the day after Bad Bunny received the album of the year award at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

“DtMF,” the song that concluded the Super Bowl halftime show, led Bad Bunny’s streaming charts on February 9, racking up 9.8 million listens. “Baile Inolvidable” followed with 6.6 million, while “Nuevayol” (5.8 million), “Tití Me Preguntó” (5.2 million), and “EOO” (4.4 million) rounded out the top five. Notably, all but “Tití Me Preguntó” are featured on Bad Bunny’s upcoming 2025 album, I should have taken more photos, with the exception originating from A Summer Without You. All five tracks were integral parts of the Super Bowl performance.

The impact of the Super Bowl performance is already evident on the Billboard charts. I should have taken more photos jumped from No. 9 to No. 2 on the February 14-dated Billboard 200, marking a 138% increase to 85,000 equivalent album units. “DtMF” also re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 10.

Industry analysts anticipate further gains when the February 21-dated Billboard charts are released, reflecting consumption data from February 6-12. I should have taken more photos, along with A Summer Without You and other albums in Bad Bunny’s discography, are expected to climb the Billboard 200, while his catalog is poised to make significant strides on both the Hot 100 and Hot Latin Songs charts.
