Bain Capital Close to Acquiring Consulting Firm Guidehouse for $5.3 Billion, Including Debt

November 5, 2021

BENGALURU (Reuters) – Private equity firm Bain Capital is reportedly nearing the acquisition of Guidehouse, a consulting firm specializing in advising government organizations and businesses. According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal is set to value Guidehouse at $5.3 billion, including debt.

Sources familiar with the situation have stated that an official agreement could be announced as early as Monday. If finalized, this acquisition would further expand Bain Capital’s portfolio and strengthen its presence in the consulting industry.

Both Bain Capital and Guidehouse have remained tight-lipped about the potential deal. When approached by Reuters for comment, Bain Capital declined to provide a statement, while Guidehouse has yet to respond to the request.

Guidehouse, a firm that focuses on providing consulting services to the public sector, was originally the U.S. public sector business of accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. In 2018, private equity firm Veritas Capital acquired the business and rebranded it as Guidehouse.

Acquisitions of consulting firms have become increasingly common in recent years as companies seek to expand their capabilities and service offerings. With Guidehouse’s expertise in advising government organizations, a potential acquisition by Bain Capital would strategically position the private equity firm to tap into the growing demand for consulting services within the public sector.

The news of this potential acquisition comes as Bain Capital continues to explore new investment opportunities and strengthen its presence in the market. Bain Capital is a leading global private investment firm that specializes in private equity, credit, and venture capital. Established in 1984, the firm has a long history of successful investments across various industries.
