Jaffna. Small scale onion cultivation is being carried out in the district at present.

Farmers were concerned that a bag of urea would sell for between 40,000 and 45,000 rupees, with the price of seed onions exceeding 500 rupees a kilo.

They also said that pesticides and fuel shortages have made it impossible to continue growing onions.

Jaffna. Onion production in Valikamam North and Valikamam South is lower than usual this time.
