On August 5, Hasina Wajid resigned from the Prime Ministership due to student ⁣protests and ‍fled to India, seeking ‍refuge in the capital, ⁤New Delhi. Reports suggest that former Information ⁣Technology Minister Zaneed⁢ Ahmed was also arrested in connection with the incident.

Sources claim that the former minister had recently met with officials from TikTok, Meta, and Google, instructing ‌them to remove social media posts in support of the student‍ movement. Meanwhile, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) ⁢arrested four Awami League leaders attempting to cross the border into India. The Bangladeshi media reported that a government ‌official was also among those arrested.

The BGB stated that, in the current political climate, corrupt and ‌malicious individuals were attempting to flee‍ the country and ⁤announced heightened border patrols and intelligence gathering to apprehend such individuals. The agency also issued⁣ a‌ contact number, urging the public to assist ​in identifying ‌those ‍attempting ‌to⁣ escape.
