Sivagangai: Banking service spokespersons have protested against the attempts of bank managements to bring rural service providers under the control of private companies.

14 thousand people across Tamil Nadu have been working as service liaison in banks for 13 years on contract basis. Of these, Indian Overseas Bank alone employs 3400 people. According to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India, banking services are based on the objective of making banking services available to the poor, the common people and the rural people. Federal government schemes include the five-day program salary, old age allowance, etc. at the home of rural people.

They also do things like putting money in the bank and making payments. Even when the world was paralyzed during the corona outbreak, people went home and got their fingerprints and paid the old age allowance. The bank has invited us to contract to work under a private company without our consultation. We have ignored it. We look forward to continuing to work with Indian Overseas Bank. Bank service spokespersons said action should be taken not to fall under the private company.

Sellappa, Sivagangai District Officer: We have been working in banks for 13 years as Grama Niladharis. They are currently being transferred to a private company and are asking for a 20 per cent share of one hundred per cent of our salary. They also ask for a share in the commission amount. We have suffered because of this. We want to work under bank management as always. We need to take action not to hand over to a private company, he said.
