Sivagangai: Banking service spokespersons have protested against the attempts of bank managements to bring rural service providers under the control of private companies.
14 thousand people across Tamil Nadu have been working as service liaison in banks for 13 years on contract basis. Of these, Indian Overseas Bank alone employs 3400 people. Sellappa, Sivagangai District Officer: We have been working in banks for 13 years as Grama Niladharis. They are currently being transferred to a private company and are asking for a 20 per cent share of one hundred per cent of our salary. They also ask for a share in the commission amount. We have suffered because of this. We want to work under bank management as always. We need to take action not to hand over to a private company, he said.
