FC Barcelona has responded to the interlocutory of Judge Joaquín Aguirre, head of Court number 1, to regret “opinions” and “value judgments calling into question ethics of President Joan Laporta” that contains the interlocutory issued by the magistrate in the Negreira case.

“The personal judgments collected in the car have done nothing more than create a state of confusion in public and published opinion which, surely unintentionally, has caused serious damage to the image of the Club and its president”, censures the public note issued by Barça, which, on the other hand, links the course of the case to “the smear campaign institutional” that has “as objective destabilize the club in all its areas: sporting, economic and social”.

Attack on the “ethical spirit”

Judge Aguirre wrote in the car that denied the appearance of Barça as a private accusation that this request “seriously violates the ethical spirit of the applicable regulations.” On the other hand, in addition to stating that the investigation has accredited the club’s payments and that it cannot have the double status of accused and accuser, the judge believes that “it is not ethically admissible” for Laporta to attribute Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu for the crime of unfair administration, when “there are more than ample indications” that the current president made the same payments in his first term (2003-2010) as his successors, and that he was not charged with the statute of limitations for the alleged crimes.

The Barça entity defends that it is brought forward as a private accusation due to the existence “of a potential crime of unfair administration” and the “conviction” that there has been no crime of sports corruption. Furthermore, he insists that “all the accreditation material” of “the technical advisory services” of José María Enríquez Negreira and his son Javier Enríquez has been provided and that during Laporta’s presidency “the payments were always made to the company that was was in charge of this function, and never to third parties or companies.
