Barletta “city that reads” is a candidate for the Italian Capital of the book 2022

Barletta is a candidate for the 2022 Italian Book Capital, the prestigious title promoted by the Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Libraries and Copyright – which is assigned from 2020 to cities that have obtained the qualification of “City that reads”.
The dossier was drawn up by the Administration with the support of the associations, universities and research institutes adhering to the «Pact for the reading of the city of Barletta».
The presentation of the candidacy dossier will be held publicly tomorrow at 5 pm in Palazzo Della Marra, in the presence of the Mayor Cosimo Cannito, the Councilor for Tourism and Youth Policies Oronzo Cilli, and institutional and associative representatives.
“The candidacy of Barletta as the Italian capital of the book – underline the mayor Cannito and the Councilor Cilli – is an important starting point in the path taken by the Administration to strengthen participation between citizens and facilitate the construction of networks of relationships between operators of culture and territorial training. The initiative – conclude the Mayor and the Councilor – contributes to consolidating the tourist offer through the systematization of the territorial accommodation proposal and the connected enhancement of the city’s monumental heritage ».
