Most basic food products became cheaper, albeit minimally, on the exchanges in our country during the week, according to the data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT). There is also a drop in prices for vegetables monitored by the commission.

The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, is also falling this week. It fell by 0.53 percent to 2.271 points. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,283 points.

The level of ITC at the beginning of last year was 2,316 points, and in the first third of March it reached its spring maximum of 2,480 points. The basic level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005, writes BTA.

Imported cucumbers became cheaper by 1.0 percent to BGN 2.87 per kilogram, and tomatoes (import) – by 5.8 percent to BGN 2.93 per kilogram. Carrots also fall – by 3.3 percent to BGN 1.17 per kilogram. There is also a drop in the price of ripe garlic (import) – by 1.3 percent to BGN 5.51 per kilogram, and of salad – by 7.3 percent to BGN 0.89 per piece. Ripe onions (import) keep their price and are traded at BGN 1.50 per kilogram. The price of cabbage rose by 0.8 percent to BGN 1.22 per kilogram, that of red peppers (import) – by 1.5 percent to BGN 4.68 per kilogram, potatoes – also by 1.5 hundred and they are offered at BGN 1.37 per kilogram.

Imported apples rose in price by 10.8 percent and are traded at BGN 1.95 per kilogram, tangerines – by 1.3 percent to BGN 2.35 per kilogram, oranges – by 0.5 percent to BGN 1.99 BGN per kilogram. The price of lemons fell by 0.5 percent to BGN 2.07 per kilogram, and bananas by 4.9 percent to BGN 2.72 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese fell by 1.4 percent to BGN 10.67 per kilogram, and the “Vitosha” yellow cheese fell minimally by 0.4 percent to BGN 16.81 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) remains unchanged and is bought at BGN 1.14 per 400 g bucket, while fresh milk (3 percent fat content) becomes cheaper by 0.4 percent to BGN 2.25 per liter.

The price of chicken meat fell by 2.4 percent and it is available at BGN 6.23 per kilogram. Eggs (size M) keep their price from last week and are bought at BGN 0.36 per piece wholesale.

Rice became cheaper by 0.6 percent and was traded at BGN 3.32 per kilogram. Lentils rose by 0.7 percent to 4.36 leva per kilogram, ripe beans – by 1.6 percent to 4.38 leva per kilogram.

Sugar became cheaper by 2.8 percent and traded at BGN 2.07 per kilogram, and oil by 1.8 percent to BGN 2.75 per liter. The price of type 500 flour also decreased – by 2.3 percent and is available at BGN 1.26 per kilogram, and that of cow’s butter (125 gram package) – by 0.7 percent to BGN 2.65. per item.
