Battlefield REDSEC Launches Free Expansion, Ushering in Season 1 for Battlefield 6
A new era of all-out war has begun as Electronic Arts and battlefield Studios today released Battlefield REDSEC, a free experience expanding the Battlefield universe. Simultaneously, Battlefield 6‘s Season 1, titled Rogue Operations, has commenced, bringing new content and challenges to Southern California.
The arrival of REDSEC represents a bold reimagining of the Battle Royale genre, alongside a competitive team mode called Gauntlet of Arms, and enhanced creative tools within battlefield Portal. The expansion is set on the expansive map of Fort Lyndon, promising a dynamic and destructive battlefield.
REDSEC offers players a free, explosive sandbox experience that blends the signature destructibility, verticality, and intensity of Battlefield with the fast-paced action of Battle Royale.Fort Lyndon, described as the largest Battlefield map ever created, will host 100 players battling for supremacy, scavenging for gear, and strategically utilizing the habitat.According to a company release, the core of the experience lies in its dynamic destruction – walls crumble, buildings become weapons, and battlefield control hinges on adaptability.
“Battlefield 6 released just over two weeks ago and has shattered every series record, quickly becoming one of the biggest releases of the year… and we’re not done yet,” a senior official stated. “With REDSEC,we offer a new take on Battle Royale,an uncompromising competitive mode, and tools that give fans the freedom to create and experiment. It’s everything players love about Battlefield: destruction, intense combat, and organized chaos, now in a completely free experience.”
Beyond the Battle Royale mode, REDSEC introduces Gauntlet of arms, a competitive elimination mode where eight teams of four players compete in a series of rapidly changing missions. Each round lasts five minutes, with shifting objectives and environments ensuring a consistently tactical and unpredictable experience. Players can also leverage the creative power of Battlefield Portal to design, edit, and share custom game modes, utilizing new scripting and customization tools to invent unique scenarios within fort Lyndon.
Season 1, kicking off with Rogue Operations, introduces three new weapons, the Blackwell Fields map, and the Point of Impact mode – a high-octane 4v4 multiplayer experience. Blackwell Fields, situated in the scrublands of Southern California, is touted as one of the most expansive and dynamic maps in the saga’s history. A 100-level Battle Pass, six content tracks, ten Prestige levels, and premium content via the BF Pro level are also available.
“This is the most aspiring development plan in Battlefield history,” added an executive vice president at EA. “With REDSEC and Season 1, we continue our commitment to delivering regular, innovative, high-quality content. It’s just the beginning of an ever-evolving future for the Battlefield universe.”
Looking ahead, Season 1 will continue with the release of Californian Resistance on November 18, featuring a new city map and Sabotage mode, followed by winter Offensive on December 9, bringing a snowy environment and new challenges.
Why did this happen?
