Bay College Film Series Announces Fall 2025 Lineup with Oscar Contender and Holocaust Documentary

The Bay Film Series at Bay College will kick off its Fall 2025 season with a compelling lineup featuring the highly anticipated film “Sinners” and the poignant documentary “UnBroken,” offering a diverse cinematic experience for the community.

For over three decades, the Bay Film Series has championed the art of filmmaking, showcasing independent, foreign, and local productions with an emphasis on character-driven narratives and experimental styles. The series is best known for its annual “Race to the Oscars” event, highlighting potential Academy Award winners.

The series will begin on October 30th with “Sinners,” starring Michael B. jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler. The film is a genre-bending blend of horror, romance, and revenge, already garnering significant Oscar buzz. Rolling Stone praised Coogler’s ambitious approach, while another critic called it “a redemption movie, a revenge movie with elements of Blaxploitation, and certainly a red-blood-soaked horror movie; it’s also deeply romantic and has the rhythms and audaciousness of some of our boldest musicals.” Both Jordan and Coogler are considered strong contenders for Academy Award nominations. The Bay Film Series is presenting a condensed schedule this fall in solidarity with Players de Noc, a local theater group recently displaced by a fire, and to accommodate their recovery efforts.
