by time news

Bayer Leverkusen qualified for the German Cup semi-finals this Tuesday by beating Stuttgart 3-2 at the BayArena. With the Spaniard Alejandro Grimaldo, ex-Benfica, at the start, the pharmacists had to cancel out the deficit on the scoreboard twice to get the better of the tie. Waldemar Anton put Stuttgart ahead after just 11 minutes, with the advantage remaining by the slimmest of margins until half-time.

At the start of the second half, Bayer Leverkusen tied the match through Robert Andrich (50′), but Stuttgart would take the lead again in the following minutes, this time through Chris Fuhrich, at 58′. Racing against time, Xabi Alonso put Adli on the field (64′) and, with just two minutes of play, made the difference, making it 2-2 on the scoreboard, with a pass from Wirtz, who was once again assisting the goal. 3-2 final, scored by Tah, already in the 90th minute.

Bayer Leverkusen joins the already qualified Düsseldorf and Kaiserslautern, two of the big surprises of this year’s competition.

The last match of the quarter-finals will take place this Wednesday, between Saarbrucken and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
