The Bavarian club dominated the Berlin team (1-0) during a late match, which allowed it to come back to 4 points behind the leader, Bayer Leverkusen.
Three days after its surprise defeat against Werder Bremen (1-0), Bayern Munich secured the essentials, still at home, by winning against Union Berlin (1-0), and limited the gap on Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga. Thanks to this victory, the Munich residents have 44 points, 4 less than Bayer Leverkusen (48), undefeated leader of the Bundesliga on the evening of the 18th day (15 wins, 3 draws).
