jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) named five people as new suspects in the alleged corruption case in tin management in the PT Timah Tbk IUP area in Bangka Belitung (Babel) in 2015-2022.

Two of them are members of the Babel ESDM Service.

National University (Unas) criminal law observer, Ismail Rumadan, is not surprised that government officials are involved in this case.

Because the spread of illegal mining shows weak supervision by the executive.

“There are definitely individuals who receive benefits from this illegal mining practice. So, the supervisory function which is the authority of the relevant institution is not running well,” said Ismail, quoted in Jakarta, Saturday (27/4).

Ismail also fully supports the Attorney General’s Office to thoroughly investigate this case, which has cost the country’s economy up to IDR 271 trillion.

“It is very appropriate that the Attorney General’s Office wants to thoroughly investigate the parties involved in this illegal mining practice,” he said.

It is known that the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office named 5 people as suspects. This legal step was taken after examining 13 of the 14 witnesses, Friday (26/4).
