The International Court of Justice said that it will hold hearings on April 8 and 9 to consider Nicaragua’s lawsuit against Germany regarding the latter’s provision of military aid to the Zionist entity and its suspension of funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Earlier this March, Nicaragua asked the Court of Justice to issue emergency orders obligating Germany to stop military aid to the Zionist entity, and to cancel its decision to stop funding UNRWA.

According to Nicaragua, Germany is violating the 1948 Genocide Convention and the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

German government spokesman Wolfgang Buchner said that Berlin would present its position before the court, but added that it believed the case was unjustified.

Major donors to UNRWA, including the United States and Germany, suspended funding for the agency after Israeli accusations that 12 of its employees, out of tens of thousands of the organization’s employees in Gaza, participated in Hamas attacks on the Zionist entity on October 7.

Canada and Sweden have announced that they will resume funding, and the agency’s head hopes that some other donors will reverse their decisions as well.
