BNP Secretary General Speaks on Upcoming Election and Political Situation in Bangladesh

BNP Secretary General‌ Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir recently spoke ​to Indian news media ⁣NDTV about the upcoming‍ national elections in Bangladesh.

Fakhrul stated that if he is elected, he ‍plans to develop strong relations with India.‌ He also expressed confidence that the army​ will not interfere in ⁣the political process and denied any connection between his movement and extremist organizations.

Regarding the health‍ of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Fakhrul revealed that she is currently ​very ill and undergoing treatment in hospital.‍ He expressed hope that she will be able to participate in the election if she recovers sufficiently.

The BNP leader‌ also criticized the current‌ electoral system, alleging widespread corruption and lack of ‌transparency. He called for reforms⁤ to‌ ensure a fair and free election.

Fakhrul further addressed ​allegations​ of attacks on Hindus and other minorities, denying any political motive behind such incidents. He emphasized the peaceful and inclusive nature of Bangladesh’s ⁤society.

He ⁣also commented on the ⁢forced resignation of the Chief Justice, claiming that he was a close ally of Sheikh Hasina’s government.
