Three years in prison had been required against the artist but the Antwerp Criminal Court ruled that certain facts were prescribed.

Belgian artist and choreographer Jan Fabre, judged for “sexual harassment” within his dance company was sentenced Friday morning to 18 months in prison suspended by the criminal court of Antwerp.

During the trial, at the end of March, a sentence of three years in prison had been requested against this figure of contemporary art (63 years old), but the court considered that part of the facts (some dating back to 2002) were prescribed and dismissed the charges of six of the eleven alleged victims.

The visual artist is accused of harassment and indecent assault by dancers. The accusations against the theater and contemporary art superstar were made public in an open letter talking about moral harassment and sexual blackmail in 2018.
