He also held coaching positions with the Arizona Cardinals (2007-17), working with tight ends, quarterbacks, and running backs, and a short tenure as the tight ends coach for the New York Giants in 2020.
Priefer, meanwhile, lasted only one season with the Tar Heels after a long career as a special teams assistant with six different NFL franchises spanning from 2002 to 2022. His dismissal suggests Belichick is seeking significant improvements in the special teams phase of the game.
