The Christmas spirit was palpable at the Benfica Campus as coach José Mourinho joined young players for the club’s annual Christmas dinner, a tradition fostering camaraderie between Benfica’s future and current stars. Mourinho delivered a motivating message,stating,”Without a doubt,being here with you makes us understand that it is a dream for everyone to reach where the older ones have reached.“
Mourinho, who has been with the club for several months, expressed his desire to continue opening doors for young talent. “I don’t know how many years I will be here, but I would very much like to be able continue doing what we have done in these months that I have been here, which is to open the door to dreams. Merry Christmas to everyone.”
Milheiro highlighted that interactions between younger and older players are a regular occurrence,fostering a strong sense of community within the club. He noted that Mourinho is “always very close to our players,” and that the Benfica family provides unwavering support to its athletes.
Guilherme Pinheiro, a young player from the academy, recently had the chance to train with the first team, calling it “very good.” He described the dinner as “a big surprise on the part of the first team.“
Rodrigo rocha, also a member of the academy, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to interact with the first-team players, stating, “It’s very good be with these great references, which is what we want to be in the future.” Lourenço ramos added, “In the end it is indeed more motivating why we are all Benficaand the Benfica’s essence is always the same.”
