Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas mentioned that Bengalis are the only nation in the world who celebrate the New Year by welcoming the new sunrise.

He said this on the morning of Sunday (April 14) at the New Year Festival of Dhaka South City Corporation at Nagar Bhavan premises.

Mayor Sheikh Tapas said that most of the countries of the world welcome the new year at 12:01 pm. We are the only nation that celebrates the new year by welcoming the new sunrise. So the Bengali nation shows the way of light to the people of the world. Bengali nation is the beacon of light.

Stating that the creation of non-communal Bangladesh will continue through the new year, the mayor said that Sheikh Hasina wants to show the world the way of light to realize the cherished dream of the father of the nation. By building a non-communal Bangladesh, he is moving this country towards a developed Bangladesh. Dhaka South City Corporation has organized this program to promote his progress. All of us will take this country forward by joining shoulders in building a non-communal Bangladesh.

Local Member of Parliament and Joint General Secretary of Awami League AFM Bahauddin Nashim said that Pahela Baishakh is one of the public festivals of Bengalis. This festival is one of the foundations of non-communal consciousness building. But the anti-national communal forces once tried to thwart this festival. The Awami League under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina has once again spread this festival to the homes of Bengalis. It is under his leadership that Bengali culture is moving forward and will continue to move forward.
