An investigation was opened after the fall of a 24-year-old man from the 5th floor of a building on Saturday in Besançon (Doubs), and his partner and her ex-partner were placed in police custody , we learned Tuesday from a police source.

Doubs firefighters rescued the victim who fell from the 5th floor of a building in the Montrapon district, in the northwest of the city. Seriously injured, with a life-threatening condition, the victim was placed in an artificial coma, then operated on. His state of health is now stabilized.

“The circumstances of this case remain unclear, especially since the victim has not yet been able to be heard,” Commissioner Juliette Dupoux, head of Doubs departmental security, told AFP. According to the first elements of the investigation, the victim, his partner and her ex-partner had spent Saturday evening together, consuming alcohol and narcotics. At one point in the evening, the two men argued in the apartment, then got into a fight while going for a walk.

The ex-companion not found at the time of the tragedy

Only the victim then went back into the apartment. Heading towards the balcony, she climbed over the railing to throw herself into the void, then suddenly caught herself on the barrier.

Her partner tried to hold her back, but under the weight, the victim let go and crashed to the ground, while the ex-companion was nowhere to be found, according to the same source. Placed in police custody on Sunday, the victim’s partner and her ex-partner were questioned by investigators and then released on Monday.

“We are awaiting the recovery of the victim, still hospitalized at the Besançon University Hospital, so that we can hear from him by the end of the week,” said Commissioner Dupoux. The judicial investigation, which is continuing preliminary, has been entrusted to the departmental security of the Besançon police station.
