“Between life and death”, the doc in 2 minutes from Saturday

by time news

In 1983, Earl Washington Junior confessed to the murder and rape of a 19-year-old young woman. A few weeks later, he was sentenced to death. But the man has a serious mental disability, and some maintain that he is innocent and that his confession was extracted by the police. This kind of case is commonplace in the United States, where the justice system, often failing, involves wrongful convictions and botched executions.

New look at the death penalty

Thanks to three testimonies – that of a former state executioner, a victim of the Boston Marathon bombing, and the parents of a murder victim who chose to fight for their lives of their daughter’s murderer – the movie Between life and death takes a fresh look at the consequences of the death penalty.
