Jeddah: Experts warn that there is a possibility of toxic organisms being released in Saudi Arabia and to be careful. Campers in desert areas should take special care as winter approaches. Experts warn that the world’s most dangerous scorpions and snakes are in the Saudi deserts.

This is the time when most poisonous creatures are released in Saudi. So those who travel through deserts etc. should be very careful.

Entomologists warn that those camping in the desert areas of the Madinah region should take special care. According to the Environment Department, there are 17 species of snakes in Madinah region alone. Five species of snakes are highly venomous.

This is the time when venomous creatures are out and about in search of food, new shelter or a mate. The world’s most dangerous yellow scorpions are also abundant in the Saudi deserts.

These are released when we move from cold to warm. It is hard to spot yellow scorpions lying close together in the sand. So those who go out at night for work or other purposes should carry a light in their hands. Those going into the wilderness for camping or anything else should wear safety shoes that cover the toes.

Also, tapping the ground with a stick can help snakes detect human presence. Because of that, experts say, they will leave.

Last year alone, around 4,200 people were bitten by snakes and scorpions in Saudi Arabia. It is reported that 3900 of them have sought treatment for scorpion bites.
