The US President, Joe Biden, stressed this Thursday to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the need to protect the civilian population in Gaza and to enable humanitarian corridors that allow them to move safely from the defined conflict zones.

In his telephone conversation, the Democratic president also stressed the importance of a continuous flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and although he welcomed the fact that Israel has approved an additional “minimal” increase in the amount of fuel delivered, he stressed that it is necessary do “much more.”

According to the White House statement, The two leaders addressed the situation in the Palestinian enclave and Biden conveyed his “deep concern” for the hostages that have not yet been released.

The American president reiterated that the International Committee of the Red Cross must be allowed access to people still held by the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, whom the United States continues to blame for the breakdown of the ceasefire, which began on the 24th.
