Google has taken strict action against those committing fraud in the name of showing advertisements. Google has blocked about 1.2 crore Google accounts which were showing their advertisements to the users in violation of Google’s advertising policy. Google says that due to violation of rules, there were reports of increase in malware and fraud, after investigation, those Google accounts which were releasing advertisements bypassing the rules have been removed. This information has been released by Google quoting its annual advertising security report.

Challenges increased due to deepfake

Google says that the privacy and security of users will not be compromised. Google’s fight against scam advertising will continue. Gagool says that in the name of displaying advertisements, users are being cheated by using new tactics like deepfake. Some time ago, an ad was made by making a deepfake video of Sachin Tendulkar, about which Google has become alert. A similar fear is being raised regarding the Lok Sabha elections, where deepfakes can be misused.

Verification of election ad is going on

Google is working towards making elections transparent. This is why it has verified more than 5,000 election ads in 2023 and removed more than 7.3 million election ads which had not completed verification. Google says that due to AI, verification of advertisements has become quite challenging.
