Our country’s air navigation service provider announces that it has signed a relevant agreement with Skyzr, a start-up belonging to the Austrian high-tech group “Frequentis Group”. Saulius Batavičius, head of “Oro Navigacijos”, says that this is an important stage in the field of unmanned traffic management (UTM) innovations.

“I have no doubt that this digital solution, aligned with the joint regulatory authorities of unmanned systems and the guidelines of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), will significantly increase the efficiency and safety of drone flights in Lithuania,” he says.

Skyzr offers the world’s first automated risk analysis capable of up to 75% reduce the processing time of requests.

Oro navigacija will be the first company in Europe to implement the Wingman service for digital risk assessment, which will be integrated into the future Lithuanian UTM system.

Drone flights in Lithuania will have to be supervised and regulated by implementing the provisions of the European Union (EU) drone regulation package. Last year, “Oro navigacija” signed a 2.5 million contract with Austrian “Frequentis”. EUR agreement to install the UTM system (U-Space). It is planned that the U-Space service system will be installed and tested by the end of this summer.

The drone traffic management system implemented by Air Navigation is a set of systems and procedures designed to safely and efficiently integrate drones into the country’s common airspace.

Once operational, the system will allow drone flights to be controlled in cities and other difficult environments, and will help prevent potential threats to commercial and private planes, helicopters and other airspace users. Among other things, U-Space will include flight planning, flight authorization, real-time drone tracking and automated response to potential airspace incidents, as well as communication between drone operators and air traffic control centers.

According to S. Batavičius, the one-stop UTM system meets the vision of Air Navigation, the Ministry of Communications and the Transport Competence Agency to facilitate the risk assessment process for drone operators, so that they can obtain flight permits faster, and introduce new safety and efficiency standards for the use of drones.

The provisions of EU law enabling the creation of the U-Space system in Lithuania entered into force on June 1 last year, along with amendments to the Aviation Law.
