Kozhikode: The crime branch has found that money was lost in an online rummy game after the death of a young woman in Koyilandy Chelia. The crucial findings are in the investigation into Bijisha’s death on Chelia Hill. The probe has found that Bijisha had made deals worth Rs 1.5 crore for online games and lost lakhs of rupees.

Bijisha, an employee of a private telecom company’s store, was found dead at home on December 12. It was not clear to the family or relatives what caused the death of the young woman who had no problems. It was later found that Bijisha had pawned 35 pawans of gold. It was also found that lakhs of rupees were transacted through bank accounts. But the family did not know what it was for or for whom. With this, the family lodged a complaint raising the mystery of the death. The crime branch then took over the case.

Investigators found that Bijisha was active in online games during the Kovid era. At first, the money was spent on small online games. Later he moved on to games like online rummy. In the first stage, after winning the games and getting the money, he invested the money again for the games. All these payments were made through the UPI app. But money was constantly lost in online rummy.

Investigators also found that the family had pledged gold, which they had intended for the wedding. He also unknowingly took out loans from online lending companies. When the loan was not repaid, the creditors sent messages to Bijisha’s friends. The messages were sent with a bad image of Bijisha not repaying the loan. It was found that all this was the reason for the young woman’s suicide. A friend of Bijisha was also active in online gaming. The probe team has received information from them. However, the family said that no one had contacted them asking for money after the young woman died.
