The BJP has set up a committee to talk to parties about the presidential election. Ramnath Govind, President of the Republic, will end his term on July 24. He was elected on July 20, 2017 and became the 14th President of India. According to Article 62 of the Constitution, a new President must be elected by the end of the term of the incumbent President. Accordingly, the term of President Ramnath Govind will end on July 24 and will take place on July 18. Candidature for the election begins on the 15th. The 29th is the last day for filing nominations. Nominations are being considered on the 30th. July 2 is the last day to withdraw nominations. The election will be held on July 18. The ballots will be counted on July 21 and the results will be announced.
A total of 4,809 people, including 776 MPs and 4,033 MLAs, are expected to cast their ballots in this election, bringing the total number of votes cast to 10,86,431, the Chief Election Commissioner said. The total number of MLAs voting is 5 lakh 43 thousand 231. The total number of MPs voting is 5 lakh 43 thousand 200. Voting for the Presidential election will take place in the Parliament premises in Delhi and in the Assembly halls of all the states, including the Union Territories of Delhi and Pondicherry. The polling is scheduled to take place at a total of 31 locations across the country. Accordingly, the election will be held in the Committee Room on the ground floor of the Assembly in Tamil Nadu.
Two State Level Secretariat Officers have been appointed to Parliament as Electoral Officers. Assembly secretaries and assistant officers have been appointed in similar states. Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan and Joint Secretary R Shanthi have been appointed as the returning officers for Tamil Nadu. It has also been announced that the Corona Guidelines will be duly followed during the election. Meanwhile, the BJP has set up a committee to hold talks with the parties on the presidential election. The group includes BJP national leader JP Natta and senior party leader and Union Minister Rajnath Singh.
