Black Music schedules a concert with a musician on death row

Freedom firsta jazz project played by Keith LaMar, a musician on death row, is added to the line-up of the next edition of the Black Music Festival, which will be held in March. To the already announced The Temptations Review feat. Glenn Leonard, Lady Blackbird, The Main Squeeze join now Freedom first, a project that unites the Catalan pianist Albert Marquès and the poet Keith LaMar, sentenced to death more than 28 years ago for a crime he claims not to have committed. The project, which has resulted in the first-ever record signed by a death row artist, features LaMar’s live participation via phone.

Also added to the Black Music bill are the soul funk group Lisa & The Lipsmade up of American and Spanish musicians led by Lisa Kekaula; Vargas Blues Band, the personal project of Javier Vargas, one of the most requested guitarists in the state who has collaborated with artists such as Miguel Ríos; the American guitarist, singer and composer Joe Louis Walker, author of twenty-five albums; the Catalan singer Clara Gispert, who will present his first personal project where he mixes European classical music and the jazz tradition; and the hip hop band from Castellon Blackfang who also drink jazz and funk.

The Black Music Festival announced a few days ago the first bulk of artists on the bill with international names like The Temptations Review feat. Glenn Leonard, Lady Blackbird, i The Main Squeeze, plus Lachy Doley and Jack Broadbent. Likewise, Momi Maiga, Clarence Bekker, Kamikaze Helmets, Live Choir and the Black Music Big Band’s Disco Fever show with the Ensemble Jove Orquestra De Les Comarques Gironines are also part of the festival line-up. In addition, the festival will also come to Mallorca for the first time with a concert by Los Deltonos and Roulotte.
