A new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially taking shape. Director Ryan Coogler has confirmed that Black Panther 3 will be his next film, ending speculation about the future of the franchise following the success of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The confirmation came during a panel discussion on “The Sinners” at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles. Coogler playfully acknowledged the previous ambiguity surrounding the project, stating, “If it were anyone else, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm nor deny.’” He then definitively added, “But we’re working hard on it… Yes, it’s the next film.”
Building on Wakanda’s Legacy
The announcement signals a continuation of the story established in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which grossed over $800 million worldwide. The film served as a poignant tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman and saw the return of key cast members including Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba. New additions to the cast, Tenoch Huerta, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livinalli, also proved popular with audiences.
Notably, Angela Bassett received widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Queen Ramonda, earning her a second Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Denzel Washington in Talks for a Key Role
Adding to the excitement, reports indicate that Denzel Washington is being considered for a role in Black Panther 3. The legendary actor revealed during the promotional tour for “Gladiator II” that Coogler was developing a part specifically for him. This confirmation was later echoed by the director himself, suggesting a significant addition to the already stellar cast.
The involvement of Washington underscores the ambition of Marvel Studios, led by Kevin Feige, to elevate the Black Panther franchise to even greater heights.
The future of Wakanda remains a central focus for Marvel fans, and Coogler’s confirmation provides a much-anticipated update on a project poised to be a major cinematic event.
