Paraná, January 23, 2024 – Residents of Entre Ríos province have a critical need for consistent blood donations, and officials are working to make giving easier, especially as donations typically dip during the warmer months.
Maintaining a Safe Blood Supply in Entre Ríos

Ensuring adequate blood reserves is a year-round challenge for the Provincial Hemotherapy Program (PPH).
- The PPH, under the Ministry of Health of Entre Ríos, actively promotes voluntary blood donation.
- Demand for blood remains constant due to ongoing needs for surgeries, treatments, and emergencies.
- Donations tend to decrease in the summer, prompting increased outreach efforts.
- External collection drives are being conducted throughout the province to improve access.
Lucrecia Etcheverry, coordinator of the PPH, emphasized the perpetual demand for blood, stating that donors are needed consistently to support surgeries, medical treatments, complex births, and emergency situations. “During the summer season the number of donors usually decreases, which is why it is important that the population continues to attend the blood banks and donation stations that we have distributed throughout the province,” she explained.
Expanding Access Through Mobile Collections
The PPH is actively expanding donation opportunities through external collections, operating under the “Donar sangre Nos Une +” project in collaboration with Iafas and Grupo Iapser. This initiative aims to bring donation possibilities closer to various communities and organizations.
collection efforts began on January 6 with a visit to the city of La Paz. Further collections are scheduled for:
- Tuesday, January 20, at the Santa Elena Pediatric Center (Avenida Presidente Perón 675)
- Thursday, January 22, at the Neuquén de Paraná Club
- Tuesday, January 29, in La Paz (Plaza 25 de Mayo, on Moreno Street)

The Provincial Blood Network offers numerous donation points throughout the province. Five Blood Banks serve as regional hubs, located within the following hospitals:
- San Martín and San Roque Maternal and Child hospitals, in paraná
